Portugal’s beautiful Silver Coast

The villa is close to several sandy beaches, golf courses, surfschools and towns nearby that are well worth a visit.

Towns to explore:

Lourinhã (7km)

  • Dinosaur walking tour
  • The Dino Parque is a fun and educational experience for young and old.
  • The museu da Lourinhã is a cute museum where you can view all the excavations that have been done in the area
  • If you prefer adventure and excitement you can do an escape room, take lessons at one of the surf schools in the area (Ripar Surf school & camp; drop-in surf station; rent a mountain bike and cross the Silvercoast (da Silva bike) or tear around at the small cart track: Dinokart
  • Cooperative Cellar of Lourinhã’s Aguardiente. Local winery

Óbidos (38 km)

  • Is a medieval fortified town in Portugal. You can walk around the entire city on a very well-preserved fortress wall. Inside the city is a beautiful castle. Just follow one of the idyllic narrow streets and you will get there.
  • It is very nice to go on an adventure with your children and imagine yourself in an era of knights and princesses.
  • If you are with friends you can do an escape room or relax on a terrace with a traditional “Ginja d’Óbidos”: a Portuguese cherry liqueur that is preferably drunk in a chocolate cup.

Caldas da Rainha (46 km)

This authentic town is located just above Óbidos and has a diverse range of activities and attractions: shopping, a visit to traditional ceramic shops, a walk through Parque dom Carlos I, a trip to one of the museums (Jose Malhoa; ceramics; bicycle), an afternoon at the beach at Praia Foz do Arelho, indoor karting or hiking at Foz do Arelho.

Peniche (26 km)

  • If you love a wild ocean, you need to go here on a windy day. You can walk and drive along the coastline and watch the waves kicking in.
  • Visit the old ford
  • Peniche is famous because of the ocean and the world Surf League Tour (Rip Curl Pro Portugal) & “Supertubos”.
  • You can go by boat to Berlenga Isle
  • Cape Carvoeiro
  • Don’t forget to stop for a good meal with fresh fish like: caldeirada or arroz de marisco

Lissabon (66 km)

Lissabon is a beautiful city with picturesque, winding and narrow streets. It is also the perfect place for wide shopping avenues, squares and fountains. Don’t forget to take a ride on one of the old trams.

Mafra (36 km)

This city is known for its cloister palace, the largest building in Portugal. Worthwile to pay a visit. Its built in the 18th century.
